Return Policy (Full)
This page outlines The Mattress Clinic’s Return Policy, including eligibility requirements, timeframes, fees, inspection standards, exclusions, and limitations. All return requests are subject to verification and inspection. Pillow and mattress returns are subject to eligibility requirements listed on this page. The Mattress Clinic reserves the right to deny any return that does not meet the requirements listed below.

Order Cancellation Before Delivery
Order cancellations requested prior to delivery are subject to a 10% restocking fee. If the product has not yet been submitted to the manufacturer, The Mattress Clinic may reduce or waive the fee at its discretion. Once a manufacturer has accepted or processed an order, cancellation is no longer available, and The Mattress Clinic is required to receive and pay for the merchandise.
Special order mattress sizes and custom-ordered items may only be canceled if the manufacturer has not yet processed the order and cancellation is permitted by the manufacturer. If cancellation is allowed, it remains subject to The Mattress Clinic’s approval, any manufacturer restrictions, and applicable restocking fees.
Mattress Return Policy (Full)
Eligibility Requirements
Mattress returns for refund are available only when all eligibility requirements in this policy are met and the return is initiated within the required timeframe. All returns are subject to inspection and verification, and The Mattress Clinic reserves the right to deny any return that does not meet the standards listed below. Situations not covered by written policies will be handled at the owner’s discretion, and service may be refused to anyone that is in violation of or does not comply with these rules.
To qualify for a mattress return, the original purchase must include The Mattress Clinic’s recommended mattress protector and two pillows for your specific mattress, and those items must be purchased before the mattress is received. The mattress protector must be used on the mattress at all times during the trial period. Failure to use the mattress protector at all times voids return eligibility. If the qualifying items used to activate return eligibility are returned for refund or store credit at any time, the mattress return eligibility is voided.
Processing Fee and Pickup Charges
All mattress returns are subject to a non-refundable processing fee equal to 15% of the price of the returned mattress or $249, whichever is greater. This fee covers processing, inspection, and local pickup of the mattress. The processing fee must be paid prior to inspection and is non-refundable, regardless of the outcome of inspection. Additional pickup charges may apply for locations outside The Mattress Clinic’s local pickup zone (20 miles).
Timeframe and Initiation Requirements
Mattress returns must be initiated after the required adjustment period and within the return timeframe. You must sleep on your mattress for a minimum of 35 days before initiating a return, and the return must be initiated within 90 days of the purchase date. Initiation means emailing contact@mattressclinic.com within the stated timeframe with a picture of the law tag and reason for return. The initiation date is determined by the date and time the email is received. If initiated within the required timeframe, the return will be honored even if pickup, inspection, or processing is completed after the deadline, provided the customer completes the return process within a reasonable time, typically within 14 days of initiating the request, unless otherwise approved by The Mattress Clinic. Failure to respond, schedule pickup, or complete return requirements may result in denial of the return.
Inspection Standards and Condition Requirements
All returned mattresses must be in like-new condition and must pass inspection. Inspection standards are determined by The Mattress Clinic to protect hygiene and product integrity. Mattresses are not eligible for return if they are stained, unsanitary, odor damaged (including smoke or pet odor, as determined by The Mattress Clinic), ripped, burned, or otherwise damaged. The law tag must remain attached. The return will be voided if the law tag is removed or if proof of purchase is lost. Keep your receipt. The mattress must have been used only for its intended purpose and must have been supported by an appropriate base, frame, or foundation. If a mattress is found to have been used improperly or does not meet inspection standards, the return will be denied.
Exclusions and Special Size Restrictions
Returns are not allowed for special sizes (including California King, Split Queen, Split Head, other like styles), custom orders, clearance merchandise, floor models, or warranty exchanges. These items are final sale and are not eligible for refund.
For online mattress purchases shipped outside The Mattress Clinic’s local pickup zone, The Mattress Clinic may require an alternative return process. If The Mattress Clinic cannot retrieve the mattress through local pickup, the customer must provide proof of donation to a local 501(c)(3) organization or proof of professional disposal before any refund will be issued. Donation or disposal must be completed within a reasonable time after the return is initiated, typically within 14 days unless otherwise approved by The Mattress Clinic. The donation receipt or disposal documentation must include the organization or provider name, date, and confirmation that the mattress was received or disposed of. The Mattress Clinic may also request photos of the mattress and supporting documentation as part of verification. If proof of donation or disposal is not provided, the return will be denied, and no refund will be issued. All return processing fees still apply to out-of-area returns.
If the original mattress purchase included discounts or promotional pricing on the base(s), and/or bedding items, and a mattress return is approved, the customer is responsible for repayment of any discounts previously given. Approved returns are processed using the regular price the items are sold for, and the difference between discounted pricing and regular pricing may be deducted from the refundable amount in addition to the processing fee and any applicable pickup charges.
Refund Processing and Payment Method
Refunds, if approved after inspection and verification, will be issued according to the original method of payment. If a refund is issued back to a credit card, debit card, or financing, a 4% processing fee will be deducted from the refunded amount to cover non-refundable processing costs. Cash purchases will be refunded by check, and checks are issued to the purchaser listed on the receipt. Refund processing timelines vary based on inspection and payment method, and refunds may take several business days to reflect depending on the customer’s bank or lender.
Pillow Return Policy (Full)
Timeframe and Initiation Requirements
Eligible pillow returns for refund are accepted within 30 days of the purchase date. Returns must be initiated within 30 days by emailing contact@mattressclinic.com. The initiation date is determined by the date and time the email is received. If initiated within the timeframe, the return will be honored even if shipping, inspection, or processing is completed after the deadline, provided the customer completes the return process within a reasonable time.
Inspection Standards and Condition Requirements
Returned pillows must be received and verified in like-new condition before a refund can be issued, and the pillow must be clean and sanitary, free of stains, discoloration, hair or debris, odor damage (including smoke or pet odor as determined by The Mattress Clinic), and free of rips, burns, or other damage. All returns are subject to inspection and verification, and The Mattress Clinic reserves the right to refuse any return that does not meet the standards listed above. Returned pillows are not resold as new. When appropriate and accepted by local organizations, The Mattress Clinic may donate certain returned pillows to community partners that serve individuals in need.
Exclusions
Clearance pillows and pillows discounted 40% or more are not eligible for return. Gifted pillows are not eligible for return. A gifted pillow includes any pillow provided at no charge, including pillows given as part of a promotion, bundle, or as an alternative to a discount. Gifted pillows have no cash value and cannot be returned for store credit or refund. If a pillow is returned for refund or store credit and it was part of a mattress comfort exchange activation, the mattress comfort exchange is voided.
Refund Method, Shipping, and Store Credit
Returns may be completed either in-store or by shipment back to The Mattress Clinic. If a return is shipped, the customer is responsible for return shipping costs and shipping charges are not refundable. Refunds will be issued for the purchase price according to the original method of payment; applicable taxes and fees may vary based on processing rules. Customers may choose either a refund to their original payment method or store credit. If store credit is selected, the full eligible purchase amount will be issued as store credit with no processing fee deduction. If a refund is issued back to a credit card, debit card, or financing, a 4% processing fee will be deducted from the refunded amount to cover non-refundable processing costs. Cash purchases may be refunded by check or issued as store credit at the customer’s request. Checks are issued to the purchaser listed on the receipt. Refunds are typically processed within one week of receipt and verification of the returned pillow, and once the refund has been applied, it may take an additional 5 to 7 business days to reflect on your bank statement depending on your bank.
Return Eligibility for Other Products
All products other than mattresses and pillows are final sale and are not eligible for return, refund, or store credit. The Mattress Clinic reserves the right to verify eligibility and deny any return request that does not meet the requirements outlined in these policies.
